( True 1/24 scale 2WD Short Course Truck )
Short-course racing traces its roots back to the late 1960s and early 1970s, evolving from long-format desert racing as promoters recognized the need for a more spectator-friendly format—one that allowed fans to see the entire battle unfold from a single vantage point.
Visionaries like Mickey Thompson saw the opportunity to bring off-road racing into stadiums across the country, where nimble mini trucks could race wheel-to-wheel and fender-to-fender under the lights on Saturday nights at local fairgrounds and baseball stadiums. For many, venues like the Pomona Fairgrounds became legendary, delivering the unmistakable atmosphere of race fuel, pinned throttles bouncing off rev limiters, and nonstop fan engagement—an experience unlike anything else in motorsports.
That same spirit made its way into RC in 2008, when short-course trucks exploded onto the scene and quickly became one of the hobby’s most iconic classes. Now, Hobby Plus brings that legendary era roaring back—this time in a true 1/24-scale platform—with the all-new Speck-SCT, now available at DirectRC.

We didn’t cut corners—we sharpened them. The Speck-SCT preserves the same scale-correct proportional relationship you would expect between a buggy and a short-course truck, making it a genuine 1/24-scale SCT designed with authenticity, performance, and realism in mind.
Built on the race-proven Speck platform, the Speck-SCT shares more than 50% of its components with the Speck-B while introducing purpose-built short-course upgrades, including new front and rear shock towers, redesigned bumpers, a clipless front body mount, a chassis stretched by 13.5mm, longer side rails, and an upgraded 37T 050 brushed motor for improved drivability and punch.
But the Speck-SCT isn’t just built for the track. Influencers, media partners, and real-world drivers have already proven that the Speck platform can take serious punishment both on and off the racing line. From concrete skatepark abuse with RC Driver Online, to hands-on testing with SMRC, to big-air bashing sessions with Fil at Poor Boys RC, the verdict is clear: the Speck series may be one of the best budget-friendly bashers among mini RC cars today.
The Speck-SCT is built for everyone—from first-time drivers to seasoned racers, backyard bashers to competitive enthusiasts. Compact, scale-correct, durable, and ready for action, the Speck-SCT brings the golden era of short-course racing into the palm of your hand.

Absolutely gorgeous and strong runner. Out of the 24th scale SCTs this one is my favorite.
Love driving this little guy around my house.
FUN - eazy to use.
Great little truck out the box. My first upgrade suggestion would be some sway bars to make it more stable at speeds but that’s really it. This is my second one and I bought it for a custom speed build.
The speck sct brushless is truly a great little short course truck is am just as fast at the track with it as i am with the speck b with the hobbywing mini 28 sensored esc and 6500kv motor and that is right out of the box I did relocate the esc and put in a gmr-c3 reciver to work with my noble nb4 pro plus I would highly recommend getting the swaybar setup for it and for my local track I run upgrade rc micro spiker tires yes there buggy tires but they hook up better than any other tires I've tried on rcp I have honestly been driving the sct more than my speck b ever since I got the sct and I absolutely love it if you are on the fence about getting one just do it i have competitors cars and truck and they just sit at home now unless my son brings friends then we let them use those but otherwise my son and I just run the speck b and the speck sct have a fantastic day everyone
Cool little truck. Plenty fast for bashing in the great room or garage. The brushless version is the way to go.
Awesome little truck
Awesome little trophy truck! Better scale than the FSC24 by FMS. Super fun!
This little truck runs great out the box! It’s very stable and has plenty of power. It also looks properly proportional thanks to the extended wheelbase. It can get a bit squirrel on loose surfaces but that’s with most 2wd vehicles. Some front weight can help out with that. I’ve already done a few changes to mine to customize it.
