Used this a beetle build and they worked great. I have broken these links so they may not be the strongest but that was after many drops so I won't really blame it on the links. The plate is also great, although due to my own fault I had a hex getting stuck and twist off.
I'm not sure I would call them HIGH clearance, they are just OK. Here is what I don't like about them. 1). I believe the ball studs in the rod ends have a hole for a 3mm screw. The Katana has a M1.6 screw, so the rod end fits really loose on the mounting hardware. You have to tighten up the screw a lot to keep the rod ends in the skid plate. 2). The skid plate sticks down pretty far and the rod ends stick down even farther. I'm getting caught up on a lot of stuff because of that. Just look at the pictures, you can see the rod ends sticking down a fair amount lower than the skid plate. So yes, I'm glad I have them, but I file them away as more of "accessories" vs raw performance parts. They seem higher quality, but the clearance issues and the massive inside diameter of the ball studs in the rod ends brings it to just an average product.
Rod ends are way to big for the skid they hang down to low catch on everything
The front links are SHORTER than the plastic stock ones and there are no spacers or anything to adjust them, once installed you have to move it to another hole up otherwise the fronts will bind. The rears are better but do require adjustment as well no spacers for this. Then to top it all the center skid plate is a joke as the attachment points for the lower links are BELOW the skid plate causing them to hang up on everything you try to go over constantly and put wear on the plastic chassis link ends. Terrible. Take a look at the links and skid plate on the redcat ascent 18... 10X better design.
I purchased this kit back in Nov. 2023 & finally got to installing them. I assembled the links & was ready to install them on the special aluminum skid plate. The screw on the drivers side rear of the center skid plate had not been properly tapped & the screw broke clean off witout any way to extract it out. Now I need a replacement for the faulty part & is not been an easy process & hope it gets settled properly for me Tony. I did not even get to use them once & that really stinks. Now I have to pay for there faulty.
Easily installed, great product and can be adjusted!!
Installation was a little bit of a struggle with only a picture to look at , took less than an hour to put together and install, looks great.
I was really excited to get these, bit extra weight, amazing looks, more clearance at the axles. The install wasn't bad, but the front links where shorter than the ones that came on it and to keep them from rubbing I had to put the front upper links in a different hole and this required me cutting the corners off the blocks under the battery tray. Even doing this I still feel the front is now stiffer, it's not much and the truck performs great but even so I think they could have done better. The second thing I don't like is the mounting point of the chassis links on the skid plate being lower than the plate itself! This is annoying as they catch on obstacles all the time vs passing over smooth. The link ends honestly should be slightly above the skid plate to allow it to pass over things smoothly vs catching! I may add a small piece of aluminum in the center of the skid plate with longer screws or possibly sand down the plastic end links a little flatter and smoother to see if that works. Overall I'm happy with the look but I really with the looks of these end links but I wonder if Furitek tested them during development as these issues could have been avoided.
